One hundred tomato plants have been given to one hundred people. Each person who received a tomato plant has been invited to become a contributor to the One Hundred Positives Tomato Community Blog. This blog will serve as documentation of the shared experiences of caring for tomato plants over the course of the summer of 2008. Contributors are free to write as much or as little of whatever they want to write as long as the writing is centered around tomatoes and tomato plants. Sharing of information and tips about growing tomato plants is encouraged, as are questions. Stories of success and failure are as welcome as growth information, yield and favorite recipes featuring tomatoes. And post photos — we all love photos!
It is my hope that a harvest celebration can be planned for the end of the summer, where members of the One Hundred Positives Tomato Community Blog gather together with the fruits of their labor at a picnic party in the spirit of community sharing and tomato love. (I can see it now — tomato sandwiches, red sauces for pasta and ketchup, lots of ketchup — tomato games and bloody mary’s...)
